Figuring out who I am after running (literally) for so long. I am not defined by my accomplishments. On a journey for peace, understanding, and constantly choosing joy.

I don’t wear makeup.

I have worn it twice in the past 5 years - once for Prom, and once for a musical that I was in.

In many ways I am glad that I haven’t gotten so accustomed to it, that I feel unnatural and bare with out it. At camp there were girls who would need their makeup perfect- they’d get up half an hour early just to do it. At school there are girls around the mirror nearly every passing period. I’m not saying that I am a slob, or don’t care about my appearance, just that I don’t devote my time to that.

Still, it is hard, going to school sometimes knowing I looked ragged and tired, and my sister has a perfect, perfectly made up face. Its hard not to compare. She’s so pretty, kinda like she just walked straight off a magazine cover.

She is in show choir, so all the time that I have spent packing my bag for meet, or planning my runs, she’s basically getting perfect, or practicing looking and sounding perfect.

We are different people, and I am proud to be her sister. But the comparison game is one that you never really win.
